First-Ever ENS Sign Awareness Day Elevates Emergency Rail Safety Tool, June 24

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 12, 2025 – Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI), the national nonprofit rail safety education organization, is launching the inaugural Emergency Notification System (ENS) Sign Awareness Day on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. This national observance brings attention to the Blue and White Emergency Notification System signs located across the United States where roadways cross railroad tracks.

These signs provide a critical lifeline in emergencies, connecting the public directly with the railroad through a posted phone number and unique crossing ID.

WHAT: ENS Sign Awareness Day – a national initiative promoting awareness and proper use of ENS signs.

WHEN: Tuesday, June 24, 2025

WHERE: Public awareness campaigns, outreach and events are happening across the United States.
