Tsurumi Cutter Pump Helps Restore Lift Station at Texas Golf Club

Collaboration with Zone Industries and Texas Hot Taps resulted in a quick turnaround and long-term solution for a golf club.

When the general manager of a prominent Texas golf club noticed persistent odor issues near a lift station on the property, it set off a fast-moving collaboration between Tsurumi Pump, distributor Zone Industries, and utility contractor Texas Hot Taps

Texas Hot Taps was already on-site performing waterline work when the golf club’s general manager raised concerns about the smell. Upon closer inspection, a severely neglected lift station was discovered. The lift station had small single-phase stainless-steel pond pumps that sat directly above the open wet well, along with a large pile of debris that was manually fished out. The existing control panel was in despair as it had not been functioning for at least six years prior due to failed capacitors.

With urgency to restore the golf club, the team sprang into action. Texas Hot Taps cleaned the wet well, removed the failed equipment, and replaced the internal valving. Outside of the lift station, they repaired aged and inconsistent piping. Meanwhile, Zone Industries worked to retrofit the station, fabricating custom ANSI adapters to fit the existing guide rail system and installing all new wiring from the breaker. Stainless steel lifting chains and new floats were also installed.

For the replacement pump, Zone Industries selected a Tsurumi 80C27.5 cutter pump, ideal for the application due to its ability to handle rag-laden systems and cut solids to pass through existing two-inch discharge piping. To further modernize the station, Zone Industries converted the outdated single-phase system to a three-phase system using a Tsurumi inverter panel. This provided added protection and flexibility to the system.

The decision to utilize Tsurumi products for this project was based on both product quality and rapid availability. Equipment shipped within a day of ordering, allowing the team to stay on schedule despite the project’s complexity.

By the end of the job, the golf club had a fully functional upgraded lift station. To help maintain reliability, Zone Industries provided an annual maintenance program to the golf course, ensuring that the system remains clean and well maintained.

“We were proud to partner with Tsurumi and Texas Hot Taps to deliver a timely, yet impactful solution,” stated Chris Leadbetter, Municipal Sales Manager from Zone Industries. “Thanks to the strong teamwork, quality equipment and top-notch team, the lift station is ready to perform for years to come.”
