Atlas Tube Brings Faster, Smarter HSS Design Solutions to NCSEA Summit
NEW YORK CITY — Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, will spotlight how it’s making it easier to design and build with steel Hollow Structural Sections (HSS) at the National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) Structural Engineering Summit, October 14–17 in New York City. Attendees can visit booth 135 to explore how Atlas Tube is streamlining HSS connection design and project workflows to support more efficient, cost-effective structures.
Earlier this year, Atlas Tube unveiled its complimentary HSS Connections Hub™, providing engineers and fabricators with one trusted source for HSS connection design. The HSS Connections Hub features a growing library of connection calculators and downloadable Typical Details in CAD, Revit, and PDF formats. All connections are designed to be fabrication-friendly and code-compliant, saving design time and reducing complexity.
Since its April debut, the HSS Connections Hub has expanded rapidly to include more than 70 HSS connection calculators and corresponding typical details. Connections available include the most commonly used shear, moment, splice, brace, end-plate, and TKYX connections. The active user base has grown to more than 1,800 in just six months. Combined with the HSS vs. Wide Flange Comparison Tool, engineers can quickly evaluate potential weight and cost savings when switching to HSS and share results with their teams.
“We’re simplifying HSS design and providing practical digital tools to help engineers and steel detailers work faster and smarter,” said Chris Hoyt, President of Atlas Tube. “The NCSEA Summit provides us with the opportunity to expose these tools to a highly engaged engineering community that’s always searching for more efficient ways to work and build.”
As part of the Summit’s Learning Lab series, Atlas Tube will host “Conversation Starter: Tools to Help Design HSS” on Wednesday, October 15, at 11:45 AM in Learning Lab 1 in America’s Hall (Exhibit Hall 1). This interactive session will introduce the audience to the digital tools available from Atlas Tube, share tips for designing with HSS more efficiently, and invite discussion and feedback from attendees.
