Lisa Thompson Named National Business Growth Director for WSP Advisory and Planning

ATLANTA — As transportation, environment and infrastructure organizations navigate increasingly complex challenges, Lisa Thompson, joins WSP in the U.S. as senior vice president, Advisory and Planning business development director.

Thompson, a member of the firm’s U.S. Advisory and Planning senior leadership team, develops and maintains key client relationships, leads the search for new business opportunities and collaborates with technical teams to deliver innovative solutions for clients, building upon WSP’s reputation as one of the world’s leading professional services firms, combining its engineering, advisory and science-based expertise to shape communities. She drives top line growth across the business line, providing guidance for operational strategies and solutions throughout a project’s life cycle.

Thompson brings more than 30 years of engaged experience in the private and public sectors. Prior to joining WSP, Thompson served as vice president and national practice consultant for an infrastructure firm, pursuing business across all transportation modes. Earlier in her career she held multiple state-level government positions, including four years with the Georgia State Road and Tollway Authority as its director of communications and legislative affairs.

She is a founding board member of the Women in Tolling Council for the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association; a board member and chair of the American Public Transportation Association’s Fundraising Committee; a member of WTS International, where she served as chair of the Fundraising Committee from 2016-18; and a member of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials. She also actively supports community events and organizations in her hometown of Atlanta.

Thompson was a recipient of Dress for Success Atlanta’s Empowering Women Award in 2023. In 2022 she earned WTS Atlanta’s Living the Legacy Award and has been recognized multiple times on Engineering Georgia magazine’s list of Top 100 Women in Engineering.

Thompson is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree and earned a master’s degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
