CHICAGO, November 18, 2025 – Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) members welcomed visitors to their plants last month as they marked 2025 PCI Precast Days.

PCI-certified producer members held open houses and gave tours of their production facilities for students, members of the community, and other individuals from October 6-10. The annual event is an ideal way to get young people who are thinking about their careers interested in the precast concrete and construction industries.

“Precast Days gives us a chance to connect with peers, partners, and future innovators while showcasing the craftsmanship and innovation behind our work,” said Matthew Smith, vice president of sales and marketing at Smith-Midland Corporation. “Opening our plant to the industry allows us to share what we do, demonstrate our commitment to quality, and provide meaningful learning experiences that strengthen the precast community.”

Smith-Midland hosted plant tours, educational sessions, and lunch at its Midland, Va., facility on October 9, along with a YETI giveaway. The event featured credit-earning presentations on the company’s products and a Precast Protects Life presentation by Dawn Decker, executive director of PCI Mid-Atlantic.

PCI’s 143 producer members operate 259 PCI-certified plants across North American, delivering unmatched quality and innovation. In 2024, PCI producer members’ sales totaled $7.4 billion. Precast concrete has been a pillar of construction in North America for more than six decades. Manufactured off-site in a controlled environment, it ensures quality and consistency. The material is used in both architectural and structural applications. PCI’s members focus primarily on aboveground projects, including low- to high-rise buildings, parking structures, bridges, and other structures.
