AtkinsRéalis Hires Shailen Bhatt as SVP and COO for its US, LATAM and M&M business
Tampa, FL – AtkinsRéalis, a world-class engineering services and nuclear company with offices around the world, has hired Shailen Bhatt as a Senior Vice President and the new Chief Operating Officer for its U.S., Latin America and Minerals & Metals business. Mr. Bhatt joins AtkinsRéalis as the former Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

Mr. Bhatt was unanimously confirmed to lead the FHWA in 2022, providing strategic executive leadership on all agency initiatives including administering the $350B Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding to state transportation departments, Tribes, U.S. territories, federal land management agencies, local governments, metropolitan planning organizations (MPO) and more. He was the FHWA’s Associate Administrator for Highway Policy and External Affairs in the Obama Administration and president and Chief Executive Officer of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America. He served as the Executive Director for the Colorado Department of Transportation, Delaware Secretary of Transportation and Deputy Executive Director of Kentucky’s Transportation Cabinet and has also held leadership positions within the private sector. Mr. Bhatt was a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global G5 Coalitions network, served on the Eno Center for Transportation’s Board of Advisors and is past Chairperson of the U.S. Department of Energy’s External Advisory Board. He graduated summa cum laude at Western Kentucky University.
